Registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor
Allison Goldfield completed her Bachelor of Arts with Honours in psychology at McGill University in Montreal and then went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Over the past twenty years, she has worked and trained in different clinical settings, including the Department of Children’s Services of Los Angeles, The Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, New York, Jewish Family Services in Ottawa, Crossroads Children’s Centre and the Kanata Resource Centre. She has been in private practice since 2005.
As a Registered Psychotherapist, Allison provides assessment and counselling services to families, children and adults. Her clinical practice encompasses a wide variety of issues including anxiety, depression, divorce issues, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, identity and self-esteem issues, post-traumatic stress and life decisions and transitions. Allison takes an integrative approach to psychotherapy, combining elements of cognitive-behavioural, solution-focused, interpersonal, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and experiential treatment strategies. She works clients to help them learn new approaches to dealing with difficult emotions and help them to form healthy and meaningful relationships with others.
Allison is a registered member of the College of Psychotherapists and a member in good standing of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists. As well, Allison regularly attends post-graduate educational workshops and lectures to stay informed of new developments and treatment strategies.
