Julia Valley is a registered clinical social worker with over ten years
of experience working with preteens, teens, adults, and groups. She
holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Carleton University and a
master’s degree in Social Work from McGill University. She has worked at
the Queensway Carleton Hospital, the Children's Hospital of Eastern
Ontario, the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre, and the
Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre.
Julia's clinical experience includes working with individuals living
Anxiety, mental health concerns such as depression, self-injury and suicidal thinking;
Difficulties with emotion regulation and coping;
Challenges with body image and self-esteem;
Issues related to sexuality;
The impacts of adoption and family-of-origin on wellness; and
Loss/ grief/ bereavement (particularly perinatal loss and Medical Assistance in Dying).
As a registered clinical social worker, Julia provides assessment and
counselling services to young people and adults. Julia’s sessions
combine elements from DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy), CBT
(Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and
Solution-Focused Therapy to provide services based on the unique needs
of each client.
To determine if there is a good client/ therapist match, Julia offers a
complimentary 'meet-and-greet' discussion. When an appointment request
is received, Julia will follow-up to offer this 'meet-and-greet' phone
call. Appointments during COVID-19 are provided in-person or remotely
via telephone or video platform. Preference of appointment type will be
confirmed after the appointment has been scheduled.
